Mower County Requests Public Input regarding County Recorder position The Mower County Board is seeking public input regarding changing the status of the County Recorder from elected to appointed. MN Statute 375A.1205 grants the County Board authority to make this change. However, before the adoption of the resolution to provide for the appointment of the office, the county board must publish a proposed resolution notifying the public of its intent to consider the issue once each week, for two consecutive weeks, in the official publication of the county. Public input is sought during the Board Meeting August 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The public may attend either in person or through Zoom. Proposed Resolution: WHEREAS, MN Statutes 375A.1205 APPOINTING COUNTY OFFICERS, grants a county board the authority to pass a resolution to change the status from elected to appointed if: (1) there is a vacancy in the office; (2) the current office holder has notified the county board that the officer will not file for the office; or (3) there is a signed contract with the county board and the incumbent recorder that provides that the incumbent officer will be appointed to the position and retain tenure, pay, and benefits equal to or greater than length of service. WHEREAS, the incumbent County Recorder has tendered her resignation effective July 31, 2021 leaving a vacancy in the office; and WHEREAS, Mower County has met the publishing and public input requirements laid out in Minnesota Statute 3754.1205, Subd. 6. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mower County Board does hereby authorizes that the office of Mower County Recorder be appointed effective X X X, X X X X.
