Andyville
Andyville is named after Andrew Fjerstad. He sold second hand furniture and antiques here. Fjerstad and Frank Rusch built several buildings in Andyville and operated a real estate business. Rusch operated a barber shop here and resided in Andyville from about 1945 until his death in 1975.
Before developing Andyville, Fjerstad had been in the grocery business and built the cafe and cabins at Lansing Corners. (Source: Austin Daily Herald, November 26, 1954, page 4)
Other early Andyville Businesses were: D. H. Akkerman (construction & excavating) and Sheetz Farm Equipment Store.
North Star Cafe and North Star Truck Stop operated for many years and were a gathering location for locals. Medgaarden's Northstar Body Shop was started in this location in 2000.

Red Oak Grove Co-operative Creamery Company was organized in 1892 and a new creamery was built in 1926. This building is the location of Corning Seed.
Corning Farmers Telephone Company began operations around 1909 to provide service in the Corning area. In the first years, the switchboard was located in the general store in Corning. For most of the time, the switchboard was located in the farm home of Miss Alice Tollefson, the company's operator. On March 16, 1961 the stockholders approved 49-10 a resolution asking Northwestern Bell Telephone Company of Austin to take over service to the 80 customers. Ten stockholders favored service from Minnesota Telephone Company in Blooming Prairie. The discontinuance of operations had been under study for more than one year. Mapleview
Maple View Addition, named after a row of maple trees on the west side, was platted October 17, 1922 by E. S. & Elsie M. Babcock. In 1945, Mapleview was incorporated to provide facilities for approximately 100 families.

Ramsey
Ramsey was platted in 1873, southwest of the intersection of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad and the Southern Minnesota Railroad. Ramsey had a railroad station, roundhouse, numerous eating establishments, hotel, grocery store, etc. Stage coaches traveled between Austin and Ramsey until 1887. After the “Y” (the curved track) was built joining the north-south and east-west railroads, the importance of Ramsey ceased.
